Welcome to Alighieri's Auction House and our fine jewelry, gemstone, luxury, and collectible auctions conducted through Alighieris.com. Please read the following terms carefully before bidding. By registering for an account and/or placing a bid on Alighieris.com, you acknowledge and agree to all terms below. BIDDING All bids placed through Alighieris.com are binding. The highest valid bid received at the close of the auction will generally determine the winning bidder, subject to any applicable reserve price, payment requirements, or other provisions contained in these Terms. SILENT RESERVES Certain lots may be subject to a silent reserve. A silent reserve is a confidential minimum price established for a lot that is not disclosed to bidders. The current or highest displayed bid does not necessarily indicate that the reserve has been met. If bidding does not meet or exceed the silent reserve, the lot may be considered unsold, passed, or otherwise not awarded to the highest displayed bidder. Alighieri's Auction House reserves the right to determine whether a reserve has been satisfied and whether a lot will be awarded following the close of bidding. CERTIFICATES A certificate can be purchased from us for $25 at https://www.alighieris.com/authenticate for any item or lot in this auction. Any item or lot that sells for over $500 will automatically include a certificate. Lots starting above $500 may include a photo of the certificate that will be provided. You may also purchase a certificate of authenticity from us at any time at https://www.alighieris.com/authenticate. The item does not have to be something you purchased from us. Send us photos of any luxury item or piece of fine jewelry you own, and we will evaluate it and issue a certificate that you may keep for your records or future resale. PAYMENT Winning bidders are responsible for payment of the hammer price, applicable buyer's premium, sales tax, shipping, handling, insurance, and any other applicable charges. The payment method associated with your Alighieris.com account may be charged after the auction closes for the lots you win and any applicable fees. If a payment is declined or otherwise unsuccessful, you have three (3) days to resolve payment unless otherwise stated by Alighieri's Auction House. ORDERS OVER $1,000 Any order totaling over $1,000 may be required to be paid by ACH or wire transfer rather than by credit or debit card. If ACH or wire transfer is required, payment instructions will be provided through Alighieris.com or directly by Alighieri's Auction House. Alighieri's Auction House reserves the right to require ACH, wire transfer, or another approved payment method for any transaction when reasonably necessary for fraud prevention, chargeback protection, or transaction security. SHIPPING AUTOMATIC CHARGE + TIMELINE + ADDRESS RULES Most orders are dispatched using USPS Priority Mail or another appropriate carrier and shipping service selected by Alighieri's Auction House. Shipping starts at approximately $10.70, plus a $5.00 handling fee per lot, plus insurance based on the item's value, when applicable. Shipping generally starts at a minimum of $15.70. We combine items into one package whenever reasonably possible and attempt to use an appropriate and economical shipping option based on the size, value, weight, and nature of the order. THE COST OF SHIPPING MAY BE AUTOMATICALLY CHARGED TO YOUR PAYMENT METHOD ON FILE, so you do not need to contact us to arrange standard shipping unless instructed otherwise. Your package will ship — meaning it will be packed, labeled, and tendered to or picked up by the carrier — within approximately 10–14 business days, Monday through Friday, after your payment is complete and your items have been processed. Many orders are received sooner; however, as our auction volume has increased, we have established a 10–14 business-day processing window to provide realistic expectations and allow our staff sufficient time to properly process, pack, insure, and ship each order. We are not Amazon and do not aim to operate like Amazon. Please do not expect immediate or expedited delivery of your winning lots. We do not offer expedited shipping options unless specifically agreed to in writing by Alighieri's Auction House. Please make sure the shipping address associated with your Alighieris.com account is accurate before placing any bids. We may be unable to change the shipping address after bidding has begun or after payment has been processed. If you place a bid with an incorrect shipping address on file, your order may still be shipped to the address associated with your account or payment method. For fraud-prevention purposes, we may require the shipping address to match the billing address associated with the payment method used for the purchase. Alighieri's Auction House reserves the right to delay shipment, request identification or additional verification, require an alternate payment method, or cancel a transaction when reasonably necessary to protect against chargebacks, unauthorized transactions, identity theft, or payment fraud. OUR EVALUATION / AUTHENTICATION PROCESS DISCLOSURE We work hard to provide accurate descriptions and professional evaluations. Luxury items, including brands such as Louis Vuitton and Gucci, may undergo authentication checks that include evaluation of material quality, craftsmanship, brand-specific characteristics, serial numbers, production identifiers, construction details, and other relevant features. Metals may be acid tested, and gemstones may be evaluated using tools including a Presidium Gem Tester II, UV fluorescence, a polariscope, and a trinocular stereoscope with magnification up to 90x. However, these efforts do not constitute a warranty or guarantee, and all property remains subject to the conditions and disclaimers contained in these Terms. CONDITION, AUTHENTICITY, AND ALL SALES FINAL All property is sold "as-is" and "where-is," in the condition it is in at the time of the auction, with all faults, including any visible or hidden defects of any nature. Neither Alighieri's Auction House nor the seller makes any representations, warranties, or guarantees whatsoever, express or implied, regarding the nature, condition, value, source, provenance, age, attribution, authenticity, fitness, merchantability, or any other aspect or characteristic of the property except where expressly stated in writing. Descriptions, photographs, measurements, condition statements, opinions, and evaluations are provided for informational purposes and represent our good-faith assessment of the property. Bidders are responsible for reviewing all available photographs, descriptions, and information before bidding. All sales are final. No refunds. No returns, except where otherwise required by applicable law or expressly agreed to in writing by Alighieri's Auction House. TAX + BUYER'S PREMIUM Applicable sales tax will be charged based on the transaction, buyer location, shipping destination, and applicable tax laws. All buyers pay a 20% buyer's premium, which is added to the hammer price of each winning lot. VENUE / JURISDICTION The parties agree that any action or proceeding arising out of or relating to any auction, bid, purchase, sale, transaction, property, or these Terms shall be instituted exclusively in the state courts located in Coweta County, Georgia, or the United States District Court having jurisdiction over Coweta County, Georgia. Each party irrevocably submits to the personal jurisdiction and venue of such courts. GOVERNING LAW These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Georgia, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.
