• Style: Traditional Japanese / Zen Garden Art / Mid-Century Asian • Estimated Period: Mid-to-Late 20th Century • Country of Origin: Japan • Materials: Heavy Cast Iron • Object Type: Hanging Candle Lantern / Tea Light Holder A wonderfully detailed and heavy vintage Japanese cast iron garden lantern sculpted in the whimsical form of a fantail "Demekin" (telescope) goldfish. The piece showcases incredible dimensional casting, from its iconic bulbous eyes and expressive mouth to the beautifully textured, fluid folds of its fins and layered tail. The main body features a reticulated lattice pattern designed to cast safe, ambient shadows when illuminated from within.
