Description
Antique Victorian Renaissance Revival decorative ewer, dating to the late 19th century (circa 1880–1890s). Brimming with Gothic elegance, this dramatic display vessel is perfect for a dark academia library, mantelpiece, or classical curiosities collection. Cast in heavy metal with an old-world, dark charcoal-patinated finish, the ewer boasts magnificent, high-relief ornamentation from the spout to the pedestal base. The central body features an oval medallion depicting a high-relief scene of classical cherubs. The piece stands on a fluted, multi-tiered pedestal foot that is historically hollow on the underside. This was cast strictly as a solid-neck ornamental sculpture rather than a functional pouring pitcher. • Style: Renaissance Revival / Victorian Gothic / Baroque • Era: Late 19th Century (c. 1880s) • Material: Spelter / Cast Metal Alloy • Subject: Cherubs / Putti / Classical Mythological Relief
